Following its recent release, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa) is now available on our Cloud Instances, our Bare Metal Cloud Servers, and our Dedicated servers.

Ubuntu 20.04 is a new long term support (LTS) version of the open-source distribution, two years after Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic Beaver). It will, therefore, be supported for free for five years, until April 2025.

Focal Fossa features the Linux kernel 5.4 and Python3 by default as well as PHP 7.4, Ruby 2.7, and PostgreSQL 12. OpenSSH has also been updated with universal 2nd factor (U2F) support. Check out the official release notes for a more complete overview of what’s new in this version.

On Instances, the official Ubuntu Cloud image is being used. Apart from a few ISHost specific scripts, you will benefit from the same version as in repositories.
